Selma fled from Syria and has been living in Germany for two years. She has difficulties communicating with authorities and often feels alone. Thanks to Sprachpool, she found a volunteer language mediator named Jasmine who helps her with communication and also introduces her to life in Germany. Selma is very grateful for Jasmine’s support and friendship.

Lukas is an English studies student who wants to improve his Spanish skills. He registered with Sprachpool as a volunteer language mediator and now regularly helps a Spanish family who is new to Germany. He accompanies them to doctor’s appointments or parent-teacher meetings and learns a lot about their culture and language in the process. Lukas finds working with the family very enriching and enjoys continuing this work.
